Boiler installation and replacement

A new boiler is a big job and you'll live with it for years. We help you pick the right type and size for your home, fit it properly and register it, so the warranty and the paperwork are sorted.

What's involved

We start with a visit: how many bathrooms you have, how much hot water you use, where the boiler and flue can go and what state the existing pipework is in. From that we recommend a boiler and give you a written quote.

  • Combi, system and regular (heat-only) boilers
  • Like-for-like swaps and conversions, for example a tank-fed system to a combi
  • Moving a boiler to a new spot, such as out of a bedroom cupboard into the loft or kitchen
  • Controls and thermostats fitted with the boiler
  • Old boiler and parts taken away

The paperwork

As Gas Safe registered engineers we notify the installation for you, and you receive a Building Regulations compliance certificate. We also register the boiler with the manufacturer so its warranty starts properly. Keep both: you'll want them when you sell the house.

Before we fit

Fitting a new boiler to old, sludgy pipework shortens its life, so we check the system first and clean it where it needs it. A filter on the return pipe catches what's left. If anything else needs doing, we'll tell you at the quote stage, not halfway through the job.

Where we work

We work from two bases: Abbey Wood, for south-east London and the edge of north-west Kent, and Sheerness, for the Isle of Sheppey and Sittingbourne. Whichever of us is nearer takes your job.

Questions

Which boiler type do I need?

Combis suit most homes with one bathroom: no tanks, hot water on demand. Homes with two or more bathrooms in use at once often do better with a system boiler and a hot water cylinder. We'll look at your home and explain the choice before you decide.

How long does a replacement take?

A straight swap in the same place is usually a day or two. Moving the boiler or changing the system type takes longer. We'll give you a realistic timescale with the quote.

Do I need anything else with a new combi?

In England, a new combi has to be fitted with time and temperature controls and at least one extra energy-saving measure, such as smart or weather-compensating controls. We'll include the right option in the quote.
